The Resplendent Quetzal, sacred to ancient cultures, still finds refuge in Monteverde’s misty canopy — one of the last strongholds for this iconic species.
Once seen only here, the Golden Toad of Monteverde vanished in the late 1980s — a global symbol of the fragility of cloud forests and the urgency of protecting them.
