1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve website (“the Site”), as well as any bookings, inquiries, and communications made through it.
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.
2. Who We Are
The website is owned and operated by:Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve, managed by the Tropical Science Center (Costa Rica), a non-profit organization dedicated to conservation, scientific research, and environmental education.

3. Use of the Website
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with the Preserve’s mission, policies, and visitor guidelines.
You agree not to:
- Use the Site in a way that may damage or impair its functionality

4. Visitor Information and Accuracy
When making a booking or submitting information, you agree that:

- You have the authority to make the reservation or inquiry
- You will update any information if it changes
Providing false or misleading information may result in denied entry.
5. Bookings and Payments
All bookings made through the Site are processed via third-party platforms. By completing a booking, you acknowledge that:
- Payment transactions are securely handled by these providers
- The Preserve does not store or access your credit card details
- Your booking is subject to time-slot availability and visitor capacity
- You agree to follow all on-site instructions and safety guidelines

6. Visitor Conduct at the Preserve
By visiting the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve, you agree to:
- Stay on marked trails
- Follow all guidance from staff and certified naturalists
- Respect wildlife by keeping a safe distance and not feeding animals
- Minimize noise and avoid disruptive behavior
- Carry out all personal waste
- Park only at the Visitor Center and use the shuttle system
Failure to comply may result in refusal of entry or removal from the Preserve.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site—including text, images, graphics, videos, logos, and design—is the property of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve or used under license.
You may not:
- Reproduce, distribute, or modify any content
- Use content for commercial purposes
- Represent the Preserve or its programs without authorization
You may, however, share links or public information as long as it is attributed appropriately.
8. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to external websites (e.g., Flora Plus, Stripe, the Tropical Science Center).
We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these third parties.
Accessing external sites is at your own discretion.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Preserve shall not be liable for:
- Damages resulting from improper use of the Site
- Losses arising from communication failures, system errors, or downtime
- Injuries, accidents, or losses occurring during a visit due to failure to follow staff instructions or guidelines
- Errors or inaccuracies in visitor-provided information
- Delays or cancellations caused by weather, force majeure, or safety concerns
Nothing in these Terms reduces rights granted under applicable Costa Rican law.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, expressed or implied.
We do not guarantee that:
- The Site will operate without interruption
- All information is error-free, though we strive for accuracy
- The Site is free from viruses or harmful components
